I should've specifically asked for the cost beforehand, but I asked for Automotive Specialists to take a look at the a/c while doing an oil change and give an idea of cost to repair. I was charged over $100 for the a/c diagnosis. I was told that the compressor was making noise and would need to be replaced. Over $100 seems like a lot for that diagnosis.
I can certainly understand if you were charged this amount just for a technician to take a listen and I would feel the exact same way. Our technician did a thorough examination of the a/c system including freon level, dye level, contamination, sealer, performance and leak check to make sure we had an accurate diagnosis of what was happening. If we are able to repair this for you, I hope you understand you do not get charged for this again, only what it will take to repair the air conditioning.
